Meet Our Staff
Syrena Rivers, Certified Medical Assistant
Syrena had a change of career once her previous job of eighteen plus years unexpectedly came to an end with the closing of the business. She then knew this was a great opportunity to go for her dream. Her dream was to work in the Medical field. So she decided to attend Miller-Motte Technical College where she earned her Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting.
Syrena enjoys making patients happy and feel better about themselves. She has seen the joy that the Healing at Sweetgrass team has been able to bring to patients by helping them understand and address their healthcare needs and concerns. Syrena assists providers in patient care and making sure the flow of the office runs smoothly and efficiently.
Syrena has been married to Kenneth for 14 years, with three beautiful children, Shakiema, Kendra and Kenneth Jr. She has a love for flowers, enjoys working in her yard and spending time relaxing with her family.
Crystal is an American Academy of Nurse Practitioner’s Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner from Athens, Ohio. She moved to South Carolina 3 years ago for the warm, sunny climate. She obtained her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Hocking College, Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Ohio University and Master’s of Science in Nursing from Otterbein University. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Crystal spent the majority of her career as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department.
Crystal entered the healthcare profession because she enjoys interacting with people. She finds it rewarding to make people happy and feel good about themselves. She feels very fortunate to be a part of the Healing at Sweetgrass team, to learn from Dr Bauerschmidt, and ultimately help patients live happier, healthier lifestyles.
Crystal enjoys traveling with her husband, being outdoors, live music, doing CrossFit, spending time with friends and family and their two dogs Baron and Izzy.
Oshuat Gonzalez, Medical Assistant
Oshuat is our bilingual Medical Assistant at Healing at Sweetgrass. She enjoys working with all patients and ensuring those of the Spanish speaking community understands everything during their office visits and over the phone.
Oshuat came to the U.S from Puerto Rico at a young age. She grew up in Goose Creek with her mom, two brothers and three sisters. In her spare time Oshuat loves taking her 2 dogs Rico and Maya for walks. Oshuat has recently developed a hobby of collecting succulents and cactus, she has been spending a lot of time repotting and propagating succulent leaves.
